Fuzhou No.1 Middle School (native name:福州第一中學) is a High School located in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China. It is one of the top high schools in China. Established in 1817, it has developed a reputation for strong nurturing of students in a cooperative and self-motivated environment as well as providing extensive opportunities leading to not only high academic achievements, but strong critical thinking skills and civic awareness as well. Its academic performance is second to none both at regional and national level. In recent 60 years, it has recorded top performance in the University Entrance Examination (Gaokao) consistently.

History

The School was established in 1817, which was during Qing Dynasty, with the name of Fengchi Academies. It used to be called Quanmin Xuetang, High School of Fujian, No.1 Middle School of Fujian, etc. The current name ,Fuzhou No.1 Middle School, started being used from 1951.

Campus

The main campus moved from the center of Fuzhou City to a suburb of Fuzhou City. The current campus has a size of 147,000 square metres, includes 6 buildings for teaching, one building for administration, one library, one gymnasium, vie dormitories, three cafeterias, one multi-purpose ground and one swimming pool.
